Skiing at ABR this weekend was at a bit of elevation (1600 feet) compared with the Cities but there were no ill effects. It beat the heck out of some barely-covered forest roads at 7500 feet (cough West Yellowstone cough) and was, oh, five times closer. With many times the pasties.
The coverage was nearly complete (no snowy forest service roads except for GG in Wisconsin on the drive home). There were a couple dirty, thin or icy spots and the downhills on Peltonen and Blueberry are getting hairy but for the snow they have Eric and Angela have done a fine job of getting the terrain open. And the on-trail cabins are fantastic.
Another lake effect dump and they'll be in fat city. Still, not a bad weekend of skiing for November!

Elm Creek
Very good.
It's nice to get the first real ski of the season in, even if it is fake snow. 90 minutes of doublepoling since we were too lazy to wax and, except for the donut loop, the current course is pretty flat. It gets repetitive but for the day before Thanksgiving we'll take it!

I can only get to two trails at most, on a good day! Check out all the trail reports at skinnyski.com

Como Golf Course
Early season skiing, good kick on the grass.
Half an hour of double poling and kicking on rock skis and grass at the Como Glacier. Was it good? No, not really, but no complaints for the day after Armistice Day. It will probably melt off by this afternoon anyway.
